Who We Are
In 1970, when a small group of parents formed the national Candlelighters organization, they adopted a motto based on an ancient Chinese proverb:

"It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness"

As the Arkansas affiliate of Candlelighters, we embrace the notion that hope is essential if families are to survive the childhood cancer journey.

The childhood cancer experience can be an enormous challenge for families. We believe that no family should have to go through this difficult time alone. Candlelighters of Central Arkansas is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with cancer and their families. Candlelighters is the only organization in Arkansas that is dedicated exclusively to meeting the unique needs of pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Mission statement

Candlelighters of Central Arkansas is a non-profit, 501(C)3 organization that promotes public awareness of childhood cancer and provides emotional, educational, social, and practical assistance to children with cancer and their families.
